Stop and think for a minute about what the word head means. Which of the following comes instantly to your mind; a part of the body, a leader, a coin? If you think about it, although they are all different, they are all important. We definitely can't live without a head on our body, a leader is needed in all faucets of life, and the head of a coin is usually considered the luckiest side. But what about the word head in the bible as it relates to women.
When a woman is not married, she has no head because she has no man to be the head. However, if she is one with Christ, he is the head therefore she is covered. There is a clear hierarchical order in the bible as written in 1 Corinthians 11:3 Paul states the following;
"But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God." Paul then goes on to say, "Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman," [like saying because of the woman], "but all things of God."11:11-12
So either a woman is living in sin, sleeping around with men, whom she is not married to, living an adulterous life completely disconnected from God (dead), destroying the world (her members / her body);
- OR - she is married to man, whom she is to honor as her "god," and possess a head. As two who are married form one body, therefore the man would be the head of the woman. Sparing both from death;
- OR - she is celibate, without man, waiting for Christ to come join with her as one body, who will then become her head. As mentioned above, in the Lord, woman and man are one. They are not without the other, but Christ forms the head.
With this in mind read the following scriptures;
1 Corinthians 7:79-40 - Wife bound to her husband
1 Corinthians Chapter 11 - Understanding the body of Christ
Matthew 19:10-12 - Eunuch's for the Kingdom of God
Women! I speak to you when I say this, stop living the adulterous life. Stop letting that spirit Jezebel destroy what God has for you. Open your eyes and see how blessed you are. Let Christ reign in your body!
